Position Overview:

A Civil Designer is responsible for planning and designing land development projects. Utilizing specialized software, Civil 3D, they create detailed drawings and plans based on specifications provided by engineers and project managers. Their role involves performing site assessments, analyzing data, and ensuring designs comply with industry standards and regulations. Civil Designers collaborate closely with engineers and surveyors to address design challenges and optimize project outcomes. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential for success in this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creating profiles for storm, sewer and roadway.
  • Add & correctly label crossings.
  • Detecting possible conflicts during the design phase of the project.
  • Putting together plan sets, using design from the design engineer.
  • Preliminary site layouts (read zoning codes for jurisdiction and apply to sites when transferred from conceptual to engineering).
  • Take engineers layout and incorporate the preliminary water/sewer design, stormwater layout, profiles, etc.
  • Preliminary grading as it relates to the design of the land development project.
  • Review drawings according to municipality requirements and approval of PLS standards.
  • Advanced understanding of the permitting process – how to compile submittals correctly, what is required by each agency, where the submittals are sent for each agency, etc.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or any related field.
  • Atleast 5 years of work experience related to Civil Engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Civil 3D is required.
  • Experience in site grading, layout, drainage, water, sewer, earthwork and sediment control for civil site design is required.
  • Firm understanding of data references and how they are used and how they work.
  • Experience in using design and modeling software is a plus (ICPR, WaterCAD/EPAnet, StormCAD)
  • Strong understanding of laying out water, sewer, and storm drainage.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Ability to work within budget and schedule constraints on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient written & oral communication skills; ability to interact with peers, clients and the public.
  • Candidate should also be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook 365.
  • Experience working with US based client is a must.
  • Amenable to work following Eastern time zone.
